- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪Very expensive! Went in because my regular vet wasn't able to fit me in and my dog's paw was swollen and he was limping. I thought if I had a good experience I may switch since Heartland is much closer to my house, even though I knew the office visit was double the cost of my regular vet. The vet barely looked at my dog's pay and suggested an xray to see if one of his toes was broken. I was told the xray was $175, and while I thought that was high, I was there, and if it was broken I didn't want my dog to suffer, so I agreed. His paw was fine, just probably got bit by a spider, which I feel the Dr. should have been able to figure out before the xray if she would have looked at it closer. By the time I got out of the vets office it was $350 for one xray, some pain pills and antibiotics. I called my regular vet and found out I paid triple what I would have paid if I had waited.
